Blue had initially thought that trying to scrape together friends for a party would just be depressing, and she was probably right about that, but she's finding that she's liking this sort of time together for its specificness, not just its lack of sadness. She and Kat make great roommates, in her opinion, they just work in a way she could never have even anticipated. A lot of that, she thinks, is down to Kat being pretty chill, because Blue is a weird person to live with, with her zoo of animals and her clutterpunk style, but she also gets Kat's strong opinions and alternating soft and toughness, her need to solve problems, because Kat gets those same things about her.

But between things they're doing -- particularly her own often-too-busy schedule -- they don't always have time together, stretched out for as long as they want. and not trying to survive some Darrow thing. It's nice, they deserve this, and lightly buzzed on rose and spicy food, she thinks this is the happiest she's been in a long time, just sitting on the sofa with Kat.

"Exactly," Blue says, after gesturing in agreement as she finishes her glass. "Why do we get some things from home, but not others? Can I make a sacrifice to the Darrow gods to get some of the formative movies of my childhood? Or music. Music is even more like that. I don't know, I just love knowing what kinds of things are -- at the heart of people, you know?"

"Do you have something like that?" She tips her head up in genuine interest from where it's been leaning on Kat's arm. "Something that just feels like home to watch or listen to?"
